Lefse Bee

It is soon time to make lefse for Folkfest, and we need to make LOTS! At last year’s Folkfest we ran out before 7:00 p.m. every day so this year we will try to make twice as much.  We hope you are able to come out and help.  There are jobs for all ages and abilities.  We’ve booked the kitchen and hall at

Redeemer Lutheran Church for Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th 2024. 

We need people to :

– cook and rice potatoes (experience needed)

– mix dough (experience needed)

– roll lefse (experience needed)

– flip lefse (no experience required)

– organize cooling table (no experience required)

– butter lefse (no experience required – sit down job)

– package lefse (no experience required – sit down job)

– help set up Thursday evening (no experience required)

– help clean up Saturday evening (no experienced required)

Lunch will be provided each day.  If you think you’d be able to help out, please let us know. Send an email to

SNCS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The SNCS will hold the Annual General Meeting on Sunday,

February 3rd at 11am at Zion Lutheran Church, 323 – 4th Avenue S, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1N3.

We hope you will join us for coffee and doughnuts, and maybe consider even joining the Board!


HERITAGE FESTIVAL

The SNCS will have a display table at the Western Development Museum’s Festival Day on Sunday February 4th.

Admission is free and the event is open between 12 – 5pm.

NORWEGIAN CHRISTMAS SERVICE / MEATBALL DINNER

Our Norwegian Christmas Eve service will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at 7:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church (323 Fourth Ave. South). There will be a Meatball Dinner before the service at 5:30 p.m. in Heritage Hall at Zion Lutheran Church.

Cost of the dinner is $10.00 per person or FREE for paid members and anyone who volunteered at Folkfest this past summer.  Children 10 and under are also free. If you have not yet renewed your membership, you will have an opportunity to do so at the dinner.

Menu:  Meatballs, mashed potatoes, peas, salad, assorted Norwegian pastries 

We need to know how much food to make so PLEASE LET US KNOW BY NOVEMBER 29TH if you are coming to the dinner.  You can let us know by sending an email to: saskatoonnorwegian@gmail.com

BERRY BARN’S NORWEGIAN CHRISTMAS FEAST

Berry Barn is hosting the Norwegian Christmas buffet again this year.

It is held on Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th at 3:30 to 7:00pm.

Saskatoon Norwegian School (NorSkole)

Saskatoon Norwegian Cultural Society is pleased to offer Beginner and Intermediate Norwegian Language classes starting September 2023.  This is a fun way to learn a language, meet new people and learn about Norwegian culture.

Language class registration: Both the Beginner and the Intermediate classes start on September 11, 2023. The Beginner class begins at 7:00 pm, while the Intermediate class begins at 6:30 pm at Evan Hardy Collegiate.  The teacher for beginners is Amanda Lawrence, and the teacher for intermediate is Line Bell.  Signs will direct the students to the correct classrooms on the night of registration. Students are welcome to park in the parking lot to the north side of Evan Hardy.

FOLKFEST 2023

We are excited to announce there will be a Norwegian pavilion at Folkfest in 2023. Dates are August 17, 18, and 19th. 

The Norwegian pavilion will share venue with Japan, Vietnam, Iran, Sri Lanka and Cameroon at the Merlish Belsher Place, 2010 College Drive, International Place. There will be lefse, krumkake, hot dogs, a bar, as well as knitting displays and Folk Dancers.
